Obituary

Edward J. Britton, 84, of Victoria Street, Belle Vernon, died Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2000, in VenCor, Pittsburgh. A son of the late Emanuel and Ada Fox Britton, he was born May 31, 1916, in Fairhope. He was a member of the Marion Presbyterian Church and the United Mine Workers of America. A lifelong resident of Belle Vernon, he retired in 1975 from the Banning Mine. Mr. Britton served in the Pacific with the 3rd Marine Division during World War II. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Edward and Lois Britton of Tucson, Ariz, and James and Carol Britton of Belle Vernon, a daughter and son-in-law, Terri and Marcie Crampo of Twilight, three sisters, Louise Swan of Toronto, Canada, Rose Fisher of California, Pa., and Doris Hackenson of Speers, and six grandchildren. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Zella Deneen Britton, on Dec. 15, 1982, and a, grandson, Mark Allen Crampo on April 9, 1996. Friends will he received in the FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME, INC., a Golden Rule member firm, 700 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon, on Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home on Saturday at 10 a.m. with Pastor William E. Lawson officiating. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
