Obituary

John W. Turner, age 71 years, one of the oldest and best known residents of Westmoreland County, died at 9:30 a. m. Thursday morning,June 4,1925, at his home in Pricedale. Death was due to a paralytic stroke, which he suffered on October 13, 1924 and which has kept him bedfast ever since. Mr. Turner was born at Millvale, Warren County, Virginia, December 20, 1853. He moved to Westmoreland County on March 25, 1881 and has lived there ever since. On October 10, 1878 he married Annie B. Hayden, and to the couple thirteen children were born. He is survived by his wife Annie B. Turner, five sons, John E., Grover C.,Jay Calvin,Arthur B.,of Pricedale and Michael M.of Irwin. Six daughters,Mrs.Edward Stangier and Mrs.C.Clarence Evans of Penn,Mrs.Harvey Bush of Brownsville,Mrs.Robert Frost of Belle Vernon and Mrs.George Gillingham of Webster,and Grace at home. Twenty-two grandchildren and one great-grandson,one brother,J.R.Turner of Convoy,Ohio,and two sisters,Mrs.John Perkins of Springfield,Kentucky and Mrs.George Sargent of Stevens City,Va.also survive. Funeral services will be held from the late home on Sunday afternoon,June 7,1925. Interment will be made in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
