Mrs.Josephine Smith;235 Knox avenue;died Thursday evening;September 23;1948;at 8:15 p.m.while visiting at the home of her niece;Mrs.Ralph Litzinger;in Johnstown;Pa. Mrs.Smith was a pioneer resident of Monessen;having resided here the past 50 years. She was born in Johnstown. Her husband;Charles Smith;preceded her in death in 1930. Surviving are the following children;Robert;Mrs.Rose McDermott;William and Harry;all of Monessen;and Mrs.Claire Ulmer of Springdale. Five grandchildren also survive;along with a sister;Mrs.Emmett McNally and two brothers;Henry and Robert Coleman;all of Johnstown. Friends will be received at the Check Home for Funerals until Monday;September 27;when funeral services will be held at 9:30 o’clock followed by additional rites at St.Leonard’s Roman Catholic Church in charge of Rev.Owen J.Kirby. Interment in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Joseph R.Clark is the funeral director.
