Obituary

Ray Sneed,a veteran of World War II,died Sunday night,August 23,1947,in the Veternas Hospital at Aspinall,where he has been confined for the past seven months. He underwent several operations for a stomach ailment,but failed to show any signs of improvement. He was born in Speers Dec.4,1902. Mr.Sneed was employed at the local freight office of the P.&L.E. as a clerk,before entering the service and assumed his duties upon his return,but was compelled to resign on account of failing health. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church,Charleroi,Charleroi Lodge 615 F.&A.M.,American Legion Post No.22,and Arden Calvert Post 167,Veteran of Foreign Wars. Surviving are his father,Louis A.Sneed,his mother,Harriet Hilton Sneed,a brother,Murel Sneed,of Charleroi,and the followng sisters,Clara Burdick,Westville,N.J.,Virginia Bickerton,Speers,Pa.,Helen DeShields,Youngstown,Elsie Tuccelli,North Charleroi and Elma and Eleanor at home. Friends will be received at his late home in Speers where services will be held Wednesday afternoon,August 27,at 2 o'clock,in charge of Rev.Meade A.Rugh,pastor of the Christ Lutheran Church. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Lawrence B.Frye is the funeral director.
