Following an illness of about four weeks,John H. Schmidt,aged 60 years,succumbed to a complication of diseases at his home in 122 Main St.,Belle Vernon, Sunday night,September 24,1933,at 7:30 o'clock. Mr. Schmidt, a former local resident,was well known throughtout the valley. He was born in North Side,Pittsburgh,but spent practically his entire life in Belle Vernon with the exception of seven years residence in Charleroi. For many years he owned and managed the Central hotel at Belle Vernon,which he recently remodeled and opened. Surviving are his wife,Mrs.Annie Schmidt;two daughters, Mrs.Clayton Anderson of Belle Vernon,and Mrs.Wilfred Easton of Charleroi, and two sons,Henry Schmidt of Belle Vernon,and John Schmidt at home. He was a member of the Charleroi order of the B.P.O.E. Funeral services will be held at the late home Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock,with Rev. Frank S. Montgomery,pastor of the Washington Avenue Presbyterian Church,in charge. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
