Obituary

Frank Hall Steen,54,prominent real estate operator,bank director and Sunday school association leader,died suddenly at his home,112 Fayette Street,Belle Vernon,Saturday morning,April 22,1933,at 9:30 o'cock. He arose about 8 a.m.and went to the kitchen. Feeling ill he returned to his room. His condition turned immediately serious and a physician was called. Death resulted after an illness of less than an hour. Frank Steen was one of Belle Vernon's best known citizens. Born in Rostraver township,he later took up business activities in Belle Vernon and has been identified as a lifelong resident there. He was a director of the People's National Bank and Trust Co.,of Monessen for 23 years,was secretary of the Fayette County Sunday School Association and a director of the Pennsylvania State Sunday School Association. As a partner in the firm of Steen & Dils Real Estate Agency in Monessen he successfully operated this business for 33 years. He was Thirty-Second Degree Mason,Belle Vernon Lodge and a member of the Odd Fellows. He is survived by his widow,Mrs.Ada G.Steen,two sons Leighty,of Belle Vernon,John W.,a student at the University of Michigan and one daughter Martha R.,a student at the same institution,Earl Steen,a brother,of New Castle and one sister,Mrs.Frances E.Phillips of Belle Vernon. The information of Mr.Steen's death came as a distinct shock in Charleroi. He has many friends and close business associates here and in Monessen who greeted the news with startling appraisal. Belle Vernon has indeed lost an importnat business leader. Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon,April 25,1933,at 2:30 o'clock at the Methodist Episcopal Church in Belle Vernon,in charge of the pastor,Rev.J.J.Buhl. Services will also be held by Charleroi Lodge No.615,Free and Accepted Masons.
