Run down by an automobile as he walked with two companions to U.S.Navy quarters at Quonset Point;Rhode Island;early Sunday morning Feb.20;1944;Ensign William E.Nicoden;aged 20 years of 210 Rostraver St.;Monessen;was killed. His companions were struck but escaped bad injury. Informtion reaching the family indicated that Ensigh Nicoden had evidently been thrown against an obstacle at the side of the road and received fatal head injuries. Ensign Nicoden;member of a prominent Monessen family;was a graduate of Monessen High School and Penn State. He left Penn State October 21 and went to Notre Dame for U.S.Navy training where he was commissioned January 20. Surviving are his parents;Mr.and Mrs.Thomas J.Nicoden;two brothers;Paul of Belle Vernon and Walter of Pittsburgh and two sisters;Mrs.Marie Gordon of Allentown and Pfc.Jeanne Nicoden of Camp Lejeune;N.C.
