The fully clothed body of a Belle Vernon man, Joseph Nalepa,25,of 623 Broad avenue, was found in the Monongahela river near the Pittsburgh-West Virginia railroad bridge at 5 o'clock Friday afternoon, July 16,1937. Mr. Nalepa had been missing since Wednesday night. His description had gone out over teletype wires only a few hours before his body was removed from the water during Friday's torrential downpour. The remains were taken to Harold Toner's mortuary and later removed to the funeral parlors of Deputy Coroner Frank Gaskill in Lock Four. The only mark on the body was a cut on the forehead believed to have been received when he bumped a stone. He leaves a bride, Agnes Nalepa, of four months. Formerly of Fairhope,he moved to Belle Vernon at the time of his marriage. Two sisters, and a brother,Henry, all of Fairhope, survive. He was employed at the Belle Vernon plant of the American Window Glass Company. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the home of his brother in Fairhope, followed by interment in the Belle Vernon Cemetery.
Your condolences will be posted here.
