Obituary

Benjamin Nicholls.aged 33 years,died Monday morning,February 6,1922, at 8:30 In the Memorial hospital,Monongahela, where on last Tuesday he underwent an operation for appendicitis. He had not been well for some time, but was stricken suddenly with the affliction, which caused his death and he sank gradually after the operation. He was a resident of this city for a number of years and had recently made his home at 1077 Eleventh street with his wife's parents. About two years ago he was married to Miss Louise Fleming, who,with one child survives.  Deceased was a member of the Eagles and Moose lodges.  The funeral will take place some time Wednesday and will be in charge of the local post of the American Legion.  The deceased was a member of the 111th Infantry and was only two hundred feet from Thomas McKee,a local young man,when he met his death on the firing line.  Nicholls was a well known ball player,formerly living at Belle Vernon.  He played several games with the American Legion team and also played in the local church league.
