Obituary

A patient in the Charleroi-Monessen hospital for three days suffering from a broken back,Charles Murphy,aged 54,of that place succumbed to his injuries at 7 o'clock Wednesday evening,July 7,1926. Mr. Murphy,well known in this city had been visiting with friends on McKean avenue,Charleroi,Sunday evening and according to other members of the household,he became ill and went to the back porch,presumably to throw up. He went to the roof of a porch on the second floor and it is believed lost his footing and fell about 20 feet to a broadwalk below. The sound of the falling body attracted occupants of the first floor who found the unconscious form on the broadwalk and notified friends of the victim who called a physician.  Paralyzed,the physician recognized that the man had suffered a broken back and ordered his removal to the Charleroi-Monessen hospital.  Little hopes were entertained for his recovery and members of his family were rushed to his bedside. The deceased is survived by one son,Richard,aged 12,two brothers, Ernest of Jones street,Belle Vernon,and Foster of Tarentum,and five sisters,Mrs. Greer Hare and Mrs. J.J.Lyons,this city,Mrs. John Hare near Fayette City,Mrs. Bert Hyatt of Vesta and Mrs. William Johnson of near Uniontown. Funeral services wll be held from the home of Ernest Murphy in Belle Vernon at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon,with interment in the Belle Vernon Cemetery.
