Obituary

Mr. John Mollard, aged 39, a well known and respected resident of Belle Vernon died Saturday morning,July 14,1923 at 6 o'clock at his home. 29 Woods street, following a lingering illness of cancer.  He had been ill for several years and for the past twelve weeks had been bedfast. He realized the seriousness of his illness, but despite his condition was cheerful and patient and conversed with his many friends who visited his bedside.  Early Saturday morning he called his wife and spoke his last words,telling her that he was going home.  Besides his wife,he is survived by one daughter,Miss Evelyn,two children having died in their infancy.  Two aunts,Mrs.John Igoe and Mrs. Mary Shanks also survive.  Funeral services were held from his late home Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock in charge of Rev. Madtes,pastor of the Baptist Church and interment was made in the Belle Vernon Cemetery.  Six of the deceased's cousins acted as pallbarers.  Mr.Mollard was well known here having for some time previous to his serious illness been employed as inspector at the Pittsburgh Steel Products.
