Obituary

Eugene R.Kerns, aged 13 years, son of Mr.and Mrs.Samuel Kerns, died Monday morning,September 8,1924,at 1 o'clock at the home of his parents,313 Sixth street, after an illness of about four months due to leakage of the heart.  Eugene had suffered an attack from the same trouble about a year ago but apparently had overcome any permanent or serious results and had gone along about as usual until he was taken ill a short time ago, which illness resulted in his being confined to his home.  He was not considered dangerously ill until a few days ago when he suffered a turn for the worse and gradually grew weaker until death came Monday morning.  The news of the death of this bright young man, just entering the high school, comes as a great schock to a large circle of friends and schoolmates.  He was a bright, studious, ambitious boy and applied himself to his studies with an interest and zeal that was the admiration of many.  The deceased is survived by the father and mother, four brothers and one sister.  He was a member of the Methodist Chruch and was faithful in his church and Sunday school duties.  He was also a member of the troop of Boy Scouts from his own church.  The funeral will take place Wednesday afternoon from the home at 313 Sixth street, the services being in charge of Rev.Rudolph.pastor of the church.  Interment will be made in the Belle Vernon Cemetery.
