A self-inflicted bullet wound in his right temple caused the death on Saturday,April 9,1949 of John William Henry, 51. of House 81. Pricedale, the State Police reported. Despondency over ill health was given as the reason for the suicide. The victim, who was divorced 22 years ago, is reported to have shot himself with a .22 calibre rifle in the bedroom of his home shortly before four o'clock Saturday afternoon. He was discovered by his mother, Mrs. Rebecca Henry, lying beside a piece of paper upon which he had written his will, it was said. An ambulance was summoned and the victim was taken to the Charleroi - Monessen Hospital where he died at 5:32 p. m. A veteran of World War II, he was employed at the Allenport plant of the Pittsburgh Steel Co.as a furnace charger, and was a member of the Belle Vernon Post of the American Legion. He served as a private with the 480th Base Headquarters of the Air Corps. Besides his mother,he is survived by one daughter,Nadene Henry,of Pittsburgh,and one brother, Walter P. Henry,of Youngstown,Ohio. Friends will be received at the Toner Funeral Home in Belle Vernon until Wednesday,April 13,at 2 p.m.,when funeral services will be held in charge of Rev. Frederick Burchell of the Church of the Nazarene and Rev. Guy McIntyre. Interment in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Harold R.Toner,funeral director.
