Obituary
Mrs. Martha Ellen Hays,aged 78 years, well known resident of Charleroi for many years,died at her home in 817 Washington avenue,Charleroi,at 6:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 13,1941. She had been ill over a long period. Mrs. Hays had resided in Charleroi for twelve years and previous to that lived in the Speers district. She was a member of the Speers Methodist Church. Her husband, Daniel Wesley Hays,died in 1937. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. William H. Simpson of Charleroi and Mr. S.R. Fox of Speers;four sons, Daniel Reed Hays,at home,William Ellis Hays and John H. Hays of Pittsburgh and Samuel Hays of Charleroi; fourteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Friends will be received at the Melenyzer Funeral Home in Belle Vernon where funeral services will be held Friday,August 15,at 2 p.m. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Rev. Earl Lighthail,pastor of Speers Methodist Church will be assisted by Rev. John Andree of the Nazarene Church, Belle Vernon. Chas.L. and Edwin Melenyzer are the funeral directors.
