Obituary

William M.Githens,72,of 303 Short street,North Belle Vernon,died Friday,Nov.4,1949,at 6:12 p.m.at the Allegheny General Hospital following a lingering illness. He was born Dec.20,1876 in Glassboro,N.J.,the son of the late Samuel Ellison and Sarah E.Margerum Githens. He had been employed at the Allenport Plant of the Pittsburgh Steel Co.for 37 years and retired as chief shipper a month ago. He is survived by his wife,Mrs.Elma Inez Githens,whom he married on Dec.25,1900,three daughters,Mrs.Harold Lambert,North Charleroi,Mrs.Arthur McSteen,Greensburg,Mrs.James Chalfant,Belle Vernon,five sons,William S.,Samuel E.,Lloyd K.,Robert T.,and Albert W.,one brother,Ashbrook L.Githens,of Charleston,W.Va.and 12 grandchildren. Friends will be received at the Toner Funeral Home in Belle Vernon until Monday,Nov.7,at 2 p.m.when services will be held in charge of Rev.George K.of the Presbyterian Church,Harold R.Toner,funeral director.
