Obituary

Jese Fox died at his home in Speers on Tuesday afternoon,January 6,1925,at 4:30 o'clock,of pneumonia, aged 43 years, and six days.  He had not been in the best of health for some months, but did not give up until Christmas when he took to his bed.  Pneumonia soon after developed.  He was born and reared in Twilight, where he lived until he married a few years ago, when he went to housekeeping in Speers.  A carpenter by trade,he had followed coal mining most of his life, with his brother recently bought two tracts of coal and was just preparing for his life work, when his prospects were cut off.  He was a member of Speers M.E.Church.  It can be truly said of Jesse Fox that he was the main spoke in the wheel that moved the little church.  A true and devoted Christian gentleman,he served many years as assistant superintendent of the Sunday school, teacher of the young ladies class,a steward,a trustee and officer in the Epworth league.  Jesse Fox could always find pleasure in doing things for others, especially in helping those in need,no plea for help and no hand was ever reached out to him that he did not respond to.   A wonderful man, this has been truly said by all who knew him.  He always had time to help bury the dead, far and near,Jesse Fox was there with his automobile for those who needed it.  The whole community is shocked at the loss of so good a man as he.  His memory, kind deeds and example will long be remembered by all his friends and neighbors.  He is survived by his wife,Viola Fox,and one son,Jesse Edward, two brothers,Laurie of Twilight, and Sam of Speers.  He also leaves an aged uncle and aunt,Mr.and Mrs.Samuel Fox of Twilight with whom he made his home for many years.  Funeral services will take place Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock from his late home with Rev.Jones, pastor of the Methodist Episcopal Church of Speers and Rev.Jewell, pastor of the Presbyterian Church of Belle Vernon,in charge.  Interment will follow in the Belle Vernon Cemetery.
