George W. Engle,a resident of Monessen for many years,died suddenly Tuesday evening, Dec. 3,1940 at his home, 300 Oneida street. Born on his father's farm,near Industry,Beaver county, Mr. Engle located in Belle Vernon as a young man,and following his marriage established a home in Monessen,where he has since resided. He was aged 81 years. For many years Mr. Engle was foreman of the Eggers & Graham Lumber company at Fourth and Donner avenue,which later became the Motz Lumber company,where he served in the same capacity. He has been retired for a number of years. On November 29,1890,Mr. Engle was married to Mary Jane Lamey,and the couple celebrated their golden wedding anniversary last week. Surviving are his wife,a daughter,Miss Gladys Engle,a teacher in the Monessen public schools,and a sister, Miss Jennie Engle of Beaver. Friends are being received at the home on Oneida street. Funeral services will be held Friday morning at 9 o'clock from St. Leonard's Church,with interment to follow in the Belle Vernon Cemetery.
