A few weeks after he returned to work after the two-week mine shut-down,Floyd Deitch,49,of Fayette City,was killed Monday,April 14,1947 at the Chartiers mine of the Emerald Coal & Coke Co. Mr. Deitch,a timberman,suffered a broken neck when he was struck by a falling beam. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Ollie Deitch,three children,Ermentrude,Floyd William and Ronald Eugene,all at home, and his mother, Mrs. Florence Deich of Plumville, Pa. Friends will be received at the late home. Services will be held there Friday, April 18,1947,at 2 p.m.,in charge of Rev. E.A. Stephenson. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery. George M. McCrory and Son are the funeral directors.
