Another murder was added to the list in Westmoreland county early Saturday night,November 16,1929 when Lizzie Davis, age 44, of PricedaLe, shot and fatally wounded her husband, Sylvester Davis, age 41. The shooting occurred almost in front of the gate of the North Belle Vernon cemetery about 7:30 Saturday night, According to Mrs. Davis, she had left her home at House 39, Pricedale early Saturday evening to visit with a friend who resides in North Belle Vernon. The husband followed her and threatened to kill her if she did not return home. They scuffled awhile and the man drew a knife. Mrs. Davis plead with her husband not to kill her and promised to go back home. The couple were enroute to their home when the husband again drew the knife, according to the woman and approached her with the remark that he had a good notion to kill her. Fearing for her life she drew a 38 calibre Smith & Weston revolver from her purse and emptied the contents at her husband. Two of the bullets took effect, one passing through both lungs and his heart and the other going through his wrist and then through his kidney. All the other shots went wild of their mark, one of the bullets crashing into a windshield of an automobile nearby. Davis fell to the ground mortally wounded and the woman walked a short distance up the road, toward North Belle Vernon and handed the gun to Francis Friskie. Chief of Police Gus Kruell, called to the scene placed the woman under arrest. Constable Harry Bierer also appeared on the scene and ordered the removal of the dead man to the Toner morgue.
