Wilfred Campbell,15,was instantly killed on Saturday, March 29,1952,when a bale of paper fell on him in a wastepaper storehouse which formerly was a part of the Roscoe Brewery. Three other Roscoe boys, between the ages of 14 and 16,were with Wilfred at the time of the accident.Tthey are Dave Scrip,Ronald Bihitski and Sonny Kennedy, All were uninjured. The boys told Ruth Eckert, deputy coroner, they were looking for comic books in the storehouse, which is now owned by a dealer in wastepaper, when the large bale suddenly fell. There was a strange coincidence when the fatal accident happened. It has not yet been explained. The Roscoe Fire Department alarm whistle sounded a single blast at almost the precise time the mishap occurred. Firemen later made an inspection round of the signal boxes and could find none where the door glass had been broken. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Campbell,of Roscoe, and was a sophomore in Charleroi High School. Surviving besides his parents are a brother, Robert and a sister, Clair Ann,both at home. The young student was a member of the high school band. He was born April 7,1936,at Belle Vernon. His mother is the former Margaret Cowan. Friends will be received at the Eckert Funeral Home. Services will be held April 1,1952,at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph's Church,in charge of Rev. William D. Savage. Interment will follow in the Belle Vernon Cemetery. Ruth Eckert is the funeral director.
