James Joseph Currie,aged 48,died at 1:45 Tuesday morning,February 28,1933,at his home,172 Schoonmaker avenue,following a lingering illness. The deceased had been a resident of Monessen for the past 34 years and was one of the oldest employees of the National plant of the American Sheet & Tin Plate mill here. His death,while a a shock to his many friends was not unexpected as he has been seriously ill for some time with heart trouble. Besides his wife,Mrs. Dorothy Hileman Currie,three children survive: James,a student at Waynesburg College;Ruth,a student at California Teachers' College,and Willis at home;also his mother,Mrs. Susan Currie of Monessen;one brother, John, of Ohio,and four sisters,Mrs. Alex Currie, Mrs. Jack Stevenson,Mrs. W.J.Michaels and Miss Anna Currie,all of Monessen. Funeral services will be held at the St. Leonard Church Friday morning at 10 a.m.,with interment following in the Belle Vernon Cemetery. ( His funeral was largely attended. Coach Wolf and the entire Squad of the basketball team of Waynesburg College,of which Mr. Currie's son James,is a member,were in attendance at the service.)
