Obituary

Miss Mary Bovard,aged 41 years,well known valley school teacher,died Thursday afternoon, October 31,1935 at 2 o'clock at her home in 324 Henry street, Belle Vernon.  She had been in declining health for several years but her death was unexpected.  Miss Bovard,a teacher in the Belle Vernon and Donora High Schools for many years,was forced to retire form her profession about two years ago because of ill health. She was well known in the valley section,having spent her entire life in Belle Vernon where she was born. She was an only child of Mrs. Eliza Bovard,who survives,and the late J. Ross Bovard,whose death occurred in 1917. Miss Bovard was a faithful and devout member of the First Presbyterian Church and for years had served the church as organist.  She was also active in various organizations of the Church and was also a member of Belle Vernon Chapter,Order of Eastern Star. A large number of uncles, aunts,cousins and other relatives in the nearby communities survive. She is a niece of C.B. Copeland of Charleroi,Mrs. W.H. Calvert of Maple View,and Charles McKean of the local Bell Telephone Company office. The remains will be at the late home of the deceased until Sunday morning,when they will be removed to the residence of her cousin,Mrs Grace Wescott,121 Vine Street, Belle Vernon,where services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. by the Rev. Howard T. Curtiss,pastor of the Presbyterian Church.  Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
