Obituary

John R.Bell,aged 90 years,one of the oldest residents of the upper Monongahela Valley died Saturday night,June 19,1926,at his home,302 Baltimore avenue,Belle Vernon. Death was due to old age,the deceased passing away in his sleep. He was born at Locks Mills,Pa.,August 28,1836 and later moved to Jeannette and came back to the Monongahela valley 36 years ago. He was actively engaged during his younger years as a general contractor and was superintendent of the Monessen Lumber Co.,when Monessen was in its infancy and many local buildings were erected under his supervision. Besides his wife,Annie A.Bell,the following children survive,Mrs.T.J.C.Ripple,of Oroboneia,Pa.,C.B.Bell,Pittsburgh,Pa.,Mrs.J.T.Fishel,Altoona,Mrs. J.R.Bockel,Altoona,R.M.Bell,Belle Vernon,W.J.Bell,Monessen and F.J.Bell,Belle Vernon,also 16 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held from the late home in Belle Vernon on Tuesday afternoon,June 22,1926 at 2 o'clock with interment in the Belle Vernon Cemetery.
