Obituary

The Grim Reaper, wielding his seythe with telling effect in Belle Vernon during the past 10 days, calling many of the prominent citizens to their last resting place and in several instances striking at the same home within a period of a few hours, again broughtr grief and sorrow to a home during the past 24 hours with a double death,Mrs. Elmer Finley of Baltimore street suffering the loss of her father,Mr. Taylor Baldwin and her three year old daughter,Maudie Lee Finley. Mr. Baldwin was 79 years of age and has been a resident of Belle Vernon practically all his life. He has been ailing for some time and Thursday it was decided to remove him to a hospital.  The ambulance was called and had arrived at the door.  Friends were taking the victim down the stairs when he was suddenly seen to gasp for breath and on further investigation it was found that he had passed away. HIs wife preceded him to the grave about three years ago and since that time he has resided with his daughter, Mrs. Finley.  Seven children survive,Mrs. Frank Kyle and Mrs. Finley of Belle Vernon,Mrs. Blanche Frants,of Mance,Pa.,and Grover,William,Irwin and Enoch of Belle Vernon.Friday morning at 4 o'clock Maudie Lee Finley, the three year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Finley and a granddaughter of Taylor Baldwin, succumbed after an illness of several days.  Pneumonia was the cause of death. A double funeral service will be held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Finley home.  Both interments will be made in the Belle Vernon Cemetery.  A strange coincidence is the fact that little Maudie Lee's grandmother and an aunt died at the same time and a double funeral for them was held on the date of the little girl's birth.
