Obituary

Otto Black,aged 62 years,for a number of years lieutenant of police at the Pittsburgh Steel,and later steward at the Elks club of Monessen,was found dead in bed in his room in the Duquesne hotel,Monessen,at 3 o'clock Sunday morning,August 10,1924.  Jokingly leaving the Elks club early Sunday morning,with the threat of ending his life by jumping in the river,the man went to his room and a short time after retiring he answered the summons.  For a time it was believed that he had carried out his intention of taking his life,but examination by a physican and the coroner,it was learned that death was caused by heart failure superinduced by inward goitre.  The deceased,who was well known in both Charleroi and Monessen,has lived in Monessen for a number of years,and was held in high esteem.  Funeral services will take place Tuesday afternoon,August 12,1924,followed by interment in the Belle Vernon Cemetery.
