Mrs. Barclay (Phoebe Ellen) Armstrong,widow of the late Barclay Armstrong,died Wednesday October 29,1947 at 3:30 p.m.at her home,212 Donner avenue. Suffering of pneumonia,her death was hastened by a broken hip sustained when she fell from her bed several days ago. The family resided in Monessen for the past 45 years,coming here from Carmichaels. Mrs.Armstrong was a life-long member of the Presbyterian Church and held membership in the First Presbyterian Church in Monessen. She is survived by her daughter Rhoda,of Monessen and a sister,Mrs.Harriet Gwynn of Jefferson. Her husband preceded her in death in 1921. Friends are being received at the Harper Memorial Chapel. Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock in charge of Rev.Fred M.Bennett,pastor of the First Presbyterian Church,of which she was a member. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Harry G.Harper,funeral director in charge.
