William L. Zollars,81,of 116 North Eighth St.,former president of the Connellsville School Board,died at 3:10 p.m. Monday,March 9,1964 in his home. He was born March 17,1882,in Clarksville,a son of the lateJjacob and Emaline Gaymon Zollars,and had been a lifelong resident of this area. He was agent for the Pittsburgh and Lake Erie Railroad,coming here from West Newton,until his retirement in 1950. Serving for 18 years on the school board he was president of the board at the time the Connellsville Joint School System was formed, and also was a former member of the Library Board. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, the Men's Bible Class and the Kiwanis Club, of which he was a past president. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Grace B. Zollars; two sons Carl A. of Pittsburgh and Nelson R. of Allen Park, Mich.; 17 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife. Mrs. Augusta Thiess Zollars, in 1936. The body will be at the Munk funeral home after 7 p.m. Tuesday. The funeral service will be held there at 2 p.m. Thursday, with the Rev. Orville Mellquist officiating. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Memorial Cemetery.
