Obituary

Joseph Wozniak,92,of 216 Cook Road, Belle Vernon (Fairhope),died Thursday, June 1,1967 at 3:30 p.m. A resident of Fairhope over 60 years,Mr. Wozniak was first employed as a coal miner.  He then worked 30 years for the Monessen plant of Pittsburgh Steel Co.,retiring 19 years ago. He was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Polish National Catholic Church and Polish National Alliance,both of Monessen.  He was born in Poland on March 10,1875. His wife, Ann,died on Feb. 17,1943.  A son,Albert,died in 1966. Surviving are three sons, Alex of Lynnwood,John of Arnold City,and Walter of Fairhope;three daughters, Mrs. Mary Halgas of Belle Vernon,Mrs. Catherine Philp of Fairhope with whom he made his home and Mrs. Julia Dobosh of Waynesburg; twenty-two grandchildren,forty-four great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter. Friends will be received after 7 p.m. June 2 at the Shelby D. Ferguson Funeral Home,Belle Vernon.  Prayers there Sunday,June 4,at 2 p.m. followed by a service in Sacred Heart of Jesus Polish National Catholic Church,Monessen,the Rev. John Rencewicz,pastor,will officiate.  Interment,Belle Vernon Cemetery.  Shelby D. Ferguson,funeral director.
