Obituary

Herman Douglas White,615 Ninth Street,died Friday,Jan.29,1954,at 2:25 p.m.in Charleroi-Monessen Hospital. An employee of the Pittsburgh Steel Co.plant for the past 25 years,the deceased had served in World War II,and was a member of the American Legion,Joseph H.Ford Post. Surviving are three sisters,Mrs.Alma Miller,with whom he made his home,Mrs.Bridget Gamble,of Selma,Ala.,and Mrs.Sallie Wallace,Chatanooga,Tenn.,a son,M.Sgt.Clifford White,with the U.S.Marine Corps,stationed in Oceanside,Calif.,and four grandchildren. Friends will be received at the Carter Funeral Home,McMahan avenue,beginning at 1 p.m. on Jan.31,1954. Funeral home visiting hours are from 1 to 5 and from 7 to 10 p.m. Funeral services will be held Tuesday,Feb.2,at 11 a.m.from the Union Baptist Church,with Rev.Boyd Hinton officiating. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. DuBoise H.Carter,funeral director.
