Samuel H.Taylor Sr.;66;of 11 Hughland Terrace;Donora;died Sunday;June 1;1975;at 5:30 a.m. in Veterans Administration Hospital;Pittsburgh. Born in Stovall;N.C.;on Jan.26;1909;he was a son of the late King Solomon and Janie Morton Taylor;and had lived in Donora the past 51 years. Mr.Taylor was retired from the former Donora Works of United States Steel. He served in the U.S.Navy during World War II as a steward’s mate and had been a sergeant in the Civilian Conservation Corps. He was a member of Bethlehem Temple Apostolic Church and the William E.Owens Post 695;American Legion;both of Donora. Surviving are his widow;Isabel Hartmett Taylor;two sons;Samuel Taylor Jr.of Donora and Donald Taylor of Rochester;N.Y.;nine daughters;Phyllis Scott;Harriet Taylor Tyree;Helen Taylor;Pearl Taylor and Alma Taylor MacDonald;all of Donora;Sara Taylor Roberts of Pittsburgh;Lelia Ann Taylor Phelps;Deborah Taylor Merritt and Sylvia Taylor Leshe;all three of Rochester;N.Y.;one brother;Major Taylor of Trenton;N.J.;four sisters;Mrs.Drucella Harris and Mrs. Mary Garett;both of Oxford;N.C.;Mrs.Hazel McAden of New York City and Mrs.Fannie B.Garrett of Trenton;N.J.;one aunt;Mrs.Birdie Black of Philadelphia;26 grandchildren;and two great-grandchildren. Friends will be received at the Percy Law Funeral Home;Donora;from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday and at the Bethlehem Temple Apostolic Church;Donora;after 2 p.m. Tuesday. Services will be held at the church at 11 a.m. Wednesday with Elder Sylvester Merritt officiating. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Percy Law is funeral director in charge.
