Samuel Turner,80,of 905 Graham Ave.,Monessen,died Saturday, Dec. 30,1967 at 8:35 p.m. in Charleroi-Monessen Hosptial following a short illness. Mr. Turner was born in Monongahela on July 16,1887. He had resided in Monessen for the past 50 years. He was employed in the open hearth department of Pittsburgh Steel Co.,retiring in 1959. A World War I veteran, he was a member of Barracks 350 of Charleroi,Veterans of World War I,the Joseph H. Ford Post 691,American Legion of Monessen, the O.K. Lodge IBPOE No. 697 of Monessen and the Monessen Choral and Literary Club. He belonged to the Wayman A.M.E. Church of Monessen. Survivors include his widow, Letha Turner,one step-daughter,Mrs. Dorothy Richardson of Pittsburgh,one sister, Mrs. Garnet Ford of Philadelphia and one niece,Jacqueline Ford of Philadelpha. Friends are being received at the Draper Funeral Home,608 6th St.,Monessen,from 2 to 5 and 7 to 10 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the Wayman A.M.E. Church, Monessen,on Wednesday,Jan. 3,at 11 a.m. with Dr. R.A. Lattimer officiating. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Beverly C. Draper,funeral director.
