Obituary

Mrs. Manila Turner, widow of
former Westmoreland County
Detective Arthur (Buddy) Turner,
died suddenly in Pittsburgh's
Mercy Hospital at 6:50 p.m. She was 65.
On New Year's Day, Mrs.
Turner and two grandchildren
were routed from her home in
the Sweeney Plan of Rostraver
Twp. when the roof caught fire.
She and the children escaped
unhurt, but she became ill yesterday
and was rushed to the
hospital.
Her husband was generally
acknowledged as the political
leader of the county's powerful
Democratic Party.
For 44 years, Mrs.Turner
lived in Pricedale. Three years
ago she moved to the Sweeney
Plan.
Mrs. Turner was born in McKeesport on Aug. 15, 1898. She
was a member of the Belle Vernon
American Legion Auxiliary.
Surviving are three sons, Raymond
H. of Greensburg, James
F. of San Diego, Calif., and
George P. of Pricedale, two
daughters, Mrs. Chester (Uba)
Dale of West Newton, and Mrs
James (Eileen) Huber of Pricedale,
two brothers, Fred Tauber of Fort Smith, Ark., and
Otto Tauber of East McKeesport,
three sisters, Mrs. Emma
Soles of East Pittsburgh, Mrs
Helen Felt of Turtle Creek, and
Mrs.Thelma Hitchens of North
Braddock and nine grandchildren.
Friends will be received
the Shelby D. Ferguson Funeral Home,Belle Vernon,after 7 p.m.Jan.3. Service there Monday,Jan.6,1964,at 11 a.m.in charge of the Rev.Frederick C.Burchell. Interment,Belle Vernon Cemetery. Shleby D,Ferguson,funeral director.
