James H. (Harry) Staff, 70, of Belle Vernon R.D. 1, died at 10:25 p.m. Thursday,Sept.9,1976 in Monongahela Division of Mon Valley Hospital. He was born in Fayette City on April 23, 1906, son ol the late John and Sara Dunn Staff. Mr. Staff was a U.S. Army veteran and retired coal miner. He belonged to United Mineworkers District 5, Rostraver Volunteer Fire Co. No. 1 of Webster and the West Newton Auxiliary Police. He was preceded in death by a son, John Staff, in 1969. Surviving are his widow, Josephine M. Bankowski Staff; one son, James H. Staff of Belle Vernon R. D. 1, a member of the Rostraver Twp. Police Dept.; five sisters, Mrs. Florence Cooper and Mrs. Harriet Couser, both of Webster, Mrs. Catherine Ryan of Fisher Heights, Monongahela R. D. 1, Mrs. Jennie Columbus of New Castle and Mrs. Bernice Carlson of Fayette City; two grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the James C. Stump Funeral Home, Inc., Rostraver Twp., from 7 to 9 p.m.Saturday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday. Services will be held at the funeral home on Monday at 10 a.m. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. In lieu of flowers,the family suggests memorial contributions may be made to Rostraver Emergency Medical Services or Children's Hospital, Pittsburgh, through the funeral home.
