Irene Soroka;83;of 121 Price St.Belle Vernon;died Monday;June 28;1976 at 9:20 a.m. in Charleroi Division of Mon Valley Hospital. She was born May 20;1893 in Olyphant;Pa.and had lived in Belle Vernon the past 62 years. Mrs.Soroka was a member of Holy Resurrection Orthodox Church;Lynnwood;and St.Barbara’s Ladies Guild of the parish. She also belonged to the Lubov Sisterhood of Belle Vernon. She was preceded in death by a son;Michael;in 1964;and by her husband;Theodore;on Aug.24;1973. Surviving are two sons;Steve Soroka of Monessen and the Rev.Theodore Soroka of Miami;Fla.;eight daughters;Mrs.Eva Smith of Belle Vernon;Augustine and Ann Soroka;both at home;Mrs.Michael (Stevanna) Lis of Aliquippa;Mrs.Jack W.(Helen) Gaber of Brookline;Mrs.Anthony (Vera) Trona of Donora;Mrs.Michael (Irene) Goresh of Johnstown and Mrs.Ronald (Martha) Zeli of Belle Vernon;17 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Friends will be received at the Shelby D.Ferguson Funeral home;Belle Vernon;from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday. Parastas services will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings at 8 p.m. The family and friends will gather at Holy Resurrection Orthodox Church;Lynnwood;on Thursday at 9 a.m. for services with the Rev.John Kluchko;pastor;officiating.
