Joseph A.Smith of Adamsburg;formerly of Belle Vernon;died Wednesday;Feb.12;1975;at 4:30 p.m. in Monsour Hospital and Clinic;Jeannette. He was 71. Born in Gratztown on Sept.1;1903;he was a son of the late George R.and Maria Crossland Smith. Mr.Smith moved to Adamsburg from Belle Vernon in 1963. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Belle Vernon and was a retired employee of Kaufmann’s Department Store;Pittsburgh. Surviving are his widow;Hazel Dysen Smith;one daughter;Mrs.John R.(Phyllis) Bakewell of Belle Vernon;one brother;Edgar B.Smith of Fellsburg;and two grandchildren;Debra and Pamela Bakewell. Friends will be received at the Shelby D.Ferguson Funeral Home;Belle Vernon;from 7 to 9 p.m.Thursday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.Friday. Services will be held Saturday at 1:30 p.m.at the funeral home with Pastor R.Dawson Hopson of First United Methodist Church;Belle Vernon;officiating. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
