Samuel Stamper;85;of 452 Motheral Ave.;Monessen;died on Saturday April 7;1973;at Oakland Veterans Administration Hospital;Pittsburgh;after a short illness. He was born June 9;1887 in Chattanooga;Tenn.;son of the late Samuel and Elizabeth Stamper. He lived in Monessen the past 63 years and was retired from Monessen Works of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp.;where he had been a wire drawer. He was a member of World War I Veterans Post No.350;Charleroi;and the Joseph H.Ford American Legion Post;Monessen. His wife;Etta Stamper;preceded him in death on November 2;1971. Surviving are one son;Robert Samuel Stamper of Indianapolis;Ind.;one granddaughter;Bobbie Jean Stamper;and the following nieces and nephews;Mrs.Harry McCraw of Monessen;Beverly C.Draper of Monessen;Deenie Draper of Inkster;Mich.;Leroy Stamper of Detroit;Mich.;Carl Payne of Monessen and Marcus Stamper of Nashville;Tenn. Friends will be received at the Draper Funeral Home;Monessen;from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.Monday. American Legion will conduct services Monday at 8 p.m.at the funeral home. Funeral services will take place Tuesday at 11 a.m.with the Rev.Clarence McCraw officiating. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Beverly C.Draper;funeral director;in charge.
