Obituary

Nicholas Slavina,67,of 39 Pacific Blvd.,Monessen,died Saturday,Feb.17,1973,at 6:40 p.m. in Charleroi Division of Mon Valley Hospital. Mr.Slavina was born in Brinton on Nov.22,1905. He retired in 1970 from the blast furnace department of the Monessen Plant of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp. He was a veteran of World War II and a member of American Legion Post 28,Monessen. Surviving are his widow,Lila Popp Slavina,two stepchildren,Robert Foulks of Monessen and Mrs.John (Irene) Chambers of Belle Vernon,four grandchildren,one sister,Mrs.Barbara Gazica of Turtle Creek,his mother,and two sisters,in Europe. Friends are being received at the Edwin Melenyzer Funeral Home,Monessen,from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.Monday and Tuesday. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m.at the funeral home with the Rev.William Carney of Monongahela Baptist Church officiating. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
