Mrs. Mary Jane Scruggs,86,died Friday,March 22,1963 at 9:05 p.m. in Charleroi-Monessen Hospital of first and second degree burns suffered Thursday morning when her clothing caught fire from a bathroom heater. The accident occurred at the home of her sister, Mrs. Bertha Epps of 301 Rebecca St.,Monessen,where she has been living during the winter. During the summer,she resided in New Kensington. Mrs. Scruggs was born on February 27,1876 in Sutersville, the daughter of John Wheeler and Sara Margaret Batch. Surviving besides her sister, Mrs. Epps, are one niece and four nephews. Friends are being received at the Dubois Carter Funeral Home,Monessen after 12 noon on Sunday. Services will be held in the Wayman A.M.E. Church of Monessen on Monday,March 25 at 1 p.m. in charge of Rev. H. Anderson. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
