Obituary

Lawrence Stokes,33,of 740 Norman avenue,Donora,died in the Presbyterian Hospital,Philadelphia,on Thursday,July 3,1958,at 9:30 a.m. He was born in Charleroi August 31,1924,and had been a resident of Donora for eleven years. He was employed at the American Steel and Wire plant in Donora,and was a member of Quinn Chapel,A.M.E.Church of Donora,Twin lodge 67,F.and A.M.,Monongahela,Mononganeie Valley lodge 208,L.B.P.O.E.of W. He is survived by his wife,Mrs.Dorothy Stokes,two sons,Lawrence,Jr. and Ronald Wayne,two daughters,Deborah and Patricia,his mother,Nina of Charleroi,his father,Master Sergeant Walter L.Stokes,U.S.Army,one brother,Edward of Donora,two sisters,Beatrice Joyner of Charleroi,and Elsie Kennedy of New Kensington. Friends will be received at the Law Funeral Home,Donora,after 3 p.m.,Sunday,July 6,1958. Services will be held Tuesday,July 8,1958,at 11 a.m.,in Quinn Chapel,A.M.E.Church,Donora,in charge of Rev.H.H.Burney,and interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Percy E.Law is the funeral director.
