Obituary

Joseph (Chuck) Stringhill,aged 28 years,122 Lee Drive, Belle Vernon,died Sunday,Feb. 28,1954,at 6:30 a.m. in Veterans Hospital, Aspinwall.  The deceased had served with the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II in the Pacific Theatre of Operations and had also served in the Korean campaign.  He was a member of Post 659,American Legion,Belle Vernon,and a member of the St. Sebastian R.C.Church,Belle Vernon.  He had been employed at the Allenport plant of the Pittsburgh Steel Co. Surviving are his wife,Mrs. Betty Stringhill;his parents,Mr. and Mrs.Joseph Stringhill of Belle Vernon;seven brothers,Tony, James, Frank, Fred, Rudy, Sam and Lewis,all of Belle Vernon;three sisters,Mrs. Lena Mazzei and Mrs Janie Mitchell,both of Belle Vernon and Inez Stringhill at home. Friends are being received at the Toner Funeral Home,Broad avenue,Belle Vernon,where visiting hours are from 1 to 5 and 7 to 10 p.m. The remains will be taken to the St. Sebastian R.C.Church on Wednesday,March 3,for funeral services at 9:30 a.m.  Requiem Mass will be sung in charge of Rev. Francis Martin.  Military rites will be observed.  Interment will be in belle Vernon Cemetery.  Harold R. Toner, funeral director.
