Obituary

Joseph Silvania,51,of 419 Main street, Belle Vernon, was fatally injured as he walked in the center of the highway at 12:15 a.m. Saturday, July 4,1953.  Speers police said he apparently swayed into the path of an automobile driven by Mrs. Susan Veveka, of Elco.  Mr. Silvania was born March 18,1902 in Belle Vernon. He was a member of the Charleroi Eagles lodge. He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fiore Silvania of Belle Vernon, five brothers, Philip and Louie of Belle Vernon,Frank of Carbondale,Illinois,Tony in Florida and John with the United States Navy, and one sister, Mrs. Louise Yawanski of Belle Vernon R.D.1. Friends will be received at the Toner Funeral Home.  Requiem High Mass will be sung in St. Sebastian Church,Tuesday, July 7,1953,at 9:30 a.m.,by Rev. Francis Martin.  Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery.  Harold R.Toner is the funeral director.
