Obituary

Ernest David Pierce,56,of 209 Grove Ave.,Belle Vernon,was dead on arrival at Charleroi Division of Mon Valley Hospital at 8 a.m. Sunday. He was born in Long Branch on July 9,1921,son of the late Howard and Eliza Wood Pierce. He had lived in Belle Vernon since 1950,formerly residing in Charleroi and Long Branch. Mr.Pierce was a member of St.Sebastian Catholic Church and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3557,both of Belle Vernon. He had served with the U.S.Army during World War II. He was a craneman in the No.8 tube mill at the Allenport Plant of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp. He was preceded in death by a son,Joseph Howard Pierce in 1947,and by a brothr,Everett Pierce. Surviving are his widow,Ann Urda Pierce,one son,Ronald D.,at home,three daughters,Mrs.Donald (Evelyn) Mowry of Ruffsdale,Mrs.William (Ernestene) Krivoski of Bellview,Neb.and Mrs. George (Dolores) Faer of Monongahels,three brothers,Howard Pierce of Flint,Mich.,and David and Ralph Pierce,both of Long Branch,five sisters,Mrs.Sarah Sisley and Mrs.Elizabeth Klingensmith,both of Long Branch,Mrs.Ruth Lytle of Monongahela,Mrs.Mildred Sanders of Detroit,Mich.and Mrs. Mae Abbott of Long Branch,and four grandchildren. Friends are being received at the Shelby D.Ferguson Funeral Home,Belle Vernon,from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday. Prayers will be recited at the funeral home on Wednesday at 9:30 a.m.,followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St.Sebastian Catholic Church,Belle Vernon. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Shelby D.Ferguson is funeral director in charge.
