George John Popella Sr.;76;of Parma;Ohio;formerly of Monessen and Belle Vernon;died Monday morning;May 22;1972;in Parma. He was born in Westmoreland County Jan.17;1896. He was a retired employee of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel’s Monessen Works. He had lived in Parma the past 10 years. His wife;Anna;preceded him in death in 1962. Surviving are four sons;Steve of Parma;George J.Jr.of Belle Vernon R.D.3;James of Parma;Joseph;with whom he made his home;one brother;John Popoles of Belle Vernon;seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Friends are being received at the Shelby D.Ferguson Funeral Home;Belle Vernon;where a prayer service will be held Wednesday;May 4;at 8:30 a.m.followed by Requiem High Mass at 9 a.m.at St.Sebastian R.C.Church;Belle Vernon;with Msgr.Martin J.O’Toole officiating.
