Calliope Patricousis (Grandma Gialas) aged 115 years;eldest known area resident;died Tuesday;Feb.16;1965;at 2:45 o’clock at her home;736 Broad Ave.;Belle Vernon. She was born in Mesta;Chios;Greece on March 10;1849. She came to Stockdale from Greece in 1921;moving to Belle Vernon in 1951. She was a member of St.Spyridon Greek Orthodox Church;Monessen. Surviving are a daughter;Mrs.James (Virginia) Gialas;with whom she made her home since coming to this country;10 grandchildren;5 of whom are Mary Salidis and George Gialas;of Philadelphia;Irene Retos;of Monongahela;Caroline;at home and Angeline;of Baltimore;Md. Also surviving are 13 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband;Andrew in 1917. Friends are being received at the Shelby D.Ferguson Funeral Home in Belle Vernon from 3 to 5 and 7 to 10 p.m. Service there Friday;Feb.19;at 12:30 p.m.followed by additional rites at Sr.Spyridon G.O.Church;Monessen. Interment;Belle Vernon Cemetery. Trisagion services at the funeral home;Feb.17;at 9 p.m.and Feb.18 at 9 p.m. Shelby D.Ferguson;funeral director.
