Jake Patterson,71,of 1568 Schoonmaker Ave.,Monessen,died Sunday,March 8,1959,at 12:50 a.m. in Magee Hospital,Pittsburgh. He had been ill the past three weeks. Born in Rocky Mount,Va.,July 17,1887, he lived in Monessen the past 27 years. He was a retired coal miner and was a member of Local Union 2148,United Mine Workers of America;Mon Valley Lodge 208,IBPOE of W. Donora;Steel City Council No.8;Tri-State Conference and Elks Grand Lodge. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Lenora Patterson of Monessen;four sons,George of Monessen,John of Brooklyn,N.Y.,William of Washington,D.C. and Jake Jr.,of Lourion,Va.;one daughter,Mrs. Mamie Weston, of Detroit,Mich.;three sisters,Mrs. Laura Brown,Mrs. Mamie Dillard,both of Beckley,W. V.,Mrs. C.A. Edmondson of Chicago, Ill.and six grandchildren. Friends will be received at the Law Funeral Home,Donora,after 7 p.m. on Monday. Funeral services will be held Wednesday,March 11,at 11 a.m. with the Rev. A. A.Jones of Uniontown officiating. Interment will be in the Belle Vernon Cemetery. Elk Memorial services will be held by Mon Valley Lodge 208 at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Steel City Council will conduct services Tuesday at 8 p.m. Percy Law, funeral director.
