Obituary

Charles H.Martin,85,of 376 Jones St.,Belle Vernon,died Thursday,July 1,1971 at 3:15 p.m. in Westmoreland Manor,Greensburg,after a lingering illness. He was retired from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp.as a foreman in the electrical department. He was a member of St.Sebastian R.C.Church,Belle Vernon,and its Holy Name Society and was a member of Belle Vernon Council 3026 of the Knights of Columbus and a fourth degree member of the General Assembly of Monessen. Surviving are his widow,Eleanor Coulter Martin,three daughters,Mrs.Morris (Eleanor) Gourley of Sharon,Mrs.Benjamin (Edith) Nichols of Monessen and Mrs.William (Ann) Schiermann of Columbus,Ohio,two sons,Charles Ardley Martin of Sharon and Warren E.Martin of Norfolk,Va.,one brother,Charles A.Martin of Charleroi,27 grandchildren,23 great-grandchildren,and one great-great-grandchild. Friends will be received at the Harold R.Toner Funeral Home,Belle Vernon,after 7 p.m. Saturday. Funeral home hours are from 2 to 5 and 7 to 10 p.m. A rosary will be said by Belle Vernon Knights of Columbus Sunday at 9 p.m. A prayer service will be held Monday,July 5,at 9:30 a.m. followed by Requiem High Mass at 10 a.m. at St.Sebastian R.C.Church,Belle Vernon,with the Msgr.Martin J.O'Toole officiating. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Harold R.Toner,funeral director.
