John Stephen Mikula Jr. of 609 Washington Ave.,Charleroi,a resident of Charleroi the past 20 years,died Thursday,June 17,1965 at 12:25 p.m. in Charleroi-Monessen Hosptial. Mr. Mikula was formerly employed at the Mathies Coal Co. in Library but had retired because of ill health. He was a member of the United Mine Workers of America and served as secretary for UMWA Local 2244. Mr. Mikula was also a member of Sts. Cyril and Methodius Roman Catholic Church, Independent Slovak Beneficial Society,Mon Valley Coin Club,all of Charleroi,Catholic Sokol Lodge of Holy Spirit Roman Catholic Church in Fayette City,Loyal Order of Moose No. 125 at Monongahela and National Civil Defense. Mr. Mikula served as a first aid and safety instructor in the Mon Valley. He was born in Pennsylvania. Surviving are his widow, Helen Lewis Mikula; a daughter, Gloria and a son, Darel,both at home. Friends are bieng received at the Francis C. Slezak Funeral Home,Charleroi,where a Blessing service will take place at 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 21,followed by Requiem High Mass at 11a.m.in the Sts. Cyril and Methodius R.C.Church in Charleroi. Francis Slezak,funeral director.
