Obituary

Residents today mourned the passing of Mr.North Belle Vernon, James A.Miller,75,justice of the peace for 30 years in that borough,a former burgess,fire chief and municipal leader,died at his home,607 Henry St.,North Belle Vernon on Sunday July 10,1955,at 4 p.m. For almost half a century Squire Miller was identified with practically every civic and community advancement project in the north borough. As a councillor of the Junior Order of American Mechanics he also gained a wide reputation throughout the Monongahela Valley for work in this lodge. He was a member of the Methodist Church of Belle Vernon. Survivors include his wife Mrs.Edith Richards Miller,two sons,Howard and James Miller of Belle Vernon,one daughter,Mrs.Beatrice Dessent,Clarksburg,W.Va.,and one brother,William of Belle vernon. Two grandchildren also survive. Friends will be received at the Toner Funeral Home during hours of 1 to 5 and 7 to 10 p.m. Services will be held there Wednesday,July 13,1955,at 2:30 p.m.,in charge of Rev.William Schatz. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Harold R.Toner is the funeral director.
