Obituary

An elderly Belle Venon woman was found dead in bed on Thursday afternoon,December 23,1954 by a sister delivering Christmas presents. Mrs. Sarah Milholland Mainwaring,69,of 531 Fayette street, Belle Vernon,apparently died of natural causes sometime after Tuesday,the last day she was seen alive. Her body was discovered at 12:50 p.m. Thursday, by Mrs. George Ludwig,of New Brighton,a sister who was calling at Mrs. Mainwaring's home to deliver Christmas presents and invite Mrs. Mainwaring to spend the holidays at the Ludwig home. Born in McKeesport,Mrs. mainwaring was a member of the First Methodist Church,Belle Vernon;a past matron of the Order of the Eastern Star,Elizabeth Chapter 418;a member of the Dames of Malta,McKeesport Chapter 420;a member of the Rebekah Lodge of Duquesne;and a member of the Woman's Christian Temperance Union,Belle Vernon. in addition to her sister,the deceased is survived by a brother,William C. Cook,of Lake Lynn,Pa.,R.D.1.  Friends will be received at the Melenyzer-Ferguson Funeral Home beginning Sunday morning.  Services will be held there Monday,December 27,1954,at 2 p.m.,in charge of Rev. Frederick Burchell and Rev. William Schatz,and interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery.  Chas. L. Melenyzer and Shelby D. Ferguson are the funeral directors.
