Obituary

A former Monessen man, Ernest W. Lender,50,of 205 West Main St.,West Newton,died Wednesday, March 23,1966,in Allegheny General Hospital at Pittsburgh. Mr. Lender worked as an electrician for the Monessen plant of Pittsburgh Steel Co.  He was a member of the Methodist Church,Veterans of Foreign Wars and Lions Club, all of West Newton.  He also belonged to the Monessen Local 1229, United Steelworkers. Mr. Lender served with the United States Army during World War II. He was born in Centerville on Oct. 19,1915,the son of the late John and Jane Lender. Surviving are his widow,Norma (Hopton) Lender; two daughters, Ann and Jeanine,both at home;one son,Dennis of West newton;one grandchild;a sister, Mrs. Alice Handel of West Newton;three brothers, Wilbur of Belle Vernon R.D.,Charles of Long Beach,Calif.,and John of Monessen. Friends are being received at the J. William McCauley Funeral Home in West Newton,where a service will take place at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 26,with the Rev. William Lovell,assisted by the Rev. Donald Steeb,officiating.  Interment in Belle Vernon Cemetery.  Funeral home visiting hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 10 p.m.  J. William McCauley Funeral Home is in charge.
